Entry 8
Not Sorry
a thought process
“Apologize”
They’d say
From the get-go
The ripe age of 5
“But I didn’t do anything”
She’d think in return
Threats of punishment rolled over her as she’d soon pushed out those words
“I’m sorry”
I believe apologies are deeply necessary—
but never for sharing
I believe apologies are deeply necessary—
but never for feeling
I believe apologies are deeply necessary—
but never for needing
I believe apologies are deeply necessary—
but never for asking
I believe apologies are deeply necessary—
but never for existing.
Stop saying sorry
for the factors that aren’t harmful,
disrespectful,
mean
You deserve space.
You have purpose.
Never apologize
for who you are and how you have divinely been made.
